Would your strategy pass a prop firm challenge?
Most prop firm challenges come down to three numbers: a daily loss limit, a maximum overall loss and a profit target. Many traders fail on the first two, not because their strategy loses, but because one bad day breaks a rule.
The rules that end most attempts
Daily loss limit. A cap on how much you can lose in one day, often measured on equity (including open trades), not just closed ones.
Maximum loss. A cap on how far the account can fall overall. Some firms trail it up as you make profit, which makes it tighter.
Profit target. The gain you need to pass. Hitting it fast with big risk often breaks one of the loss limits first.
Every firm words and measures these differently. Always read your own firm's rules.
Test your history first
Before paying for an evaluation, run your own trades through the rules:
- Export your MT4 or MT5 history (HTML or Excel).
- Drop it on NoCap Edge.
- Use Would it pass a prop-firm challenge? with a typical 2-step or 1-step shape, or your own numbers.
You'll see whether your history would have broken a limit, on which day, and when the target would have been reached. Blow-up odds reshuffles your trades thousands of times to show how often the limits break by bad luck alone.
Then run NoTilt: revenge trades and oversizing after a loss are a common way to hit a daily limit.
